Theft AlertThe Pacific Northwest Camaro Club listed the following information in a recent newsletter. Car thieves can copy the vin number off the dash board label on a valuable car, and to to a dealer for help stealing the car. Manufacturers computer data bases include information on the key code for most newer cars. The theif can say he "lost" his key and get a new key cut and even order a new entry fob. In most cases dealers do not attempt to prove ownership of the car first. Suggestion.....cover the vin on your dash so it cannot be read from outside - but do not deface or damage it. A simple index card over it will do the trick.

Late Model Lock OutIf you are locked out of a late model car that has remote entry, try this before calling the autoclub. If your other set of keys with an entry fob is with your spouse, call them on your cell phone, and have them press the unlock button while holding the fob into the phone receiver. The word is, that if the signal is strong enough, it may be able to unlock the car..........I've got to try this!
