Das Awkscht Fescht - Macungie PA

Postby karlz28 on Tue May 03, 2011 6:57 pm

The Lehigh Valley Camaro Club and the American Camaro Association have teamed up to take on the responsibility of representing the Camaro as the Feature Vehicle at this year's 48th Annual Das Awkscht Fescht (Pennsylvania Dutch for "The August Festival"). This AACA event is one of the largest and oldest antique and classic car shows in the country. About 3000 cars will be on display over the three day period...each day is different......come cars just come for one day or two - a few stay all three days. As it is an AACA event, cars are limited to 25 years old or earlier ( 1986 or before ).

We will have a large tent in the Camaro area, with several cars representing the evolution of the Camaro thru the generations.

If you are in the area, please stop by or better yet - register your pre 87 Camaro.

August 5,6,7 - Macungie Memorial Park, Macungie PA.
google Das Awkscht Fescht for their site and registration forms.

Das Awkscht Fescht went quite well.......our tent was busy with questions all weekend. Special thanks to Scott Chevrolet for sponsoring the 40 x 100 ft tent; and to three non-members who displayed their special Camaros......Bennie Pfeiffer brought his Cortez Silver 1969 COPO, Kevin Kresge brought his British Green 1968 Z/28, and Don Keiser brought his White 1969 SS 396. The tent was rounded out with Scott Wieser's Red 1971 RS, Dwight Snyder's 1993 Pace Car, John Fisher's Hugger Orange 1969 Z/28, Gary Geiling's Black 1969 RS, Karl Scheffy's Rally Green 1968 Convertible, and Scott Chevrolet's White 2011 Convertible.

Thirteen new members joined the LVCC at the event, and many others picked up applications for both the LVCC, the ACA, and flyers for the Camaro Nationals and the Slatington Lion's show. A video on the history of the Camaro and a vintage 1960's Sunoco gas pump were successful at getting people to stop and stay in the tent a little longer.

We had pretty good press, with articles in two local papers, and an interview with 'Old Cars Weekly', for future publication. One surprise was a wedding! Judge Rappaport - a long time car buff, and one of the founders of the Fescht, performed a wedding ceremony in front of the 2011.

Thanks to everyone who helped out and made the event a success.
